Beaches of Florida's Forgotten Coast

Wondering what the there is to do at the beaches in Old Florida? Well, I can tell you just what you want to know. With The Forgotten Coast encompassing the beaches of Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, St. Joe Beach, WindMark Beach, and Mexico Beach; I can guarantee you’ll find something to please the whole family.

At Cape San Blas you’ll find public parks and play grounds, restaurants where you can dine outside and of course lots of white sandy beaches. You can choose to stop on the gulf and go for a surf or drop the boat in the bay in search of scallops. If you’re looking for an adventurous day on the water or just a relaxing day with the kids; Cape San Blas won’t let you down.

If relaxing and being one with nature appeals to you then you can make your way over to Indian Pass. The almost primitive beaches of Indian Pass have everything a nature lover enjoys. From bird watching to beach driving (with a permit, of course) you can be alone with nature all day and evening. Just across the way from Indian Pass is St. Vincents Island National Wildlife Refuge where you can hike, fish, hunt, or just enjoy the sights of animals such as American alligator, bald eagle, indigo snake, and many others.

WindMark Beach is the newest “attraction” in town. It offers 3.5 miles of secluded sandy white beaches with a Village Center consisting of a restaurant, shopping, and more. Located beachfront in the WindMark Village Center is an amphitheater where you may find them playing a movie on a late summer eve. With plans to add more shops, a small market, a spa and fitness center, and an ice cream and coffee shop; there is not a doubt in my mind that WindMark Beach will be the most popular Beach located along Florida's Forgotten Coast.

St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach are just a stones throw from Port St. Joe. With plenty of restaurants and again; miles of sandy white beaches and blue-green water, St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach may be just right for you. With very few rip-currents and undertows they offer some of the safest waters around. You can take the kids on their first parasailing adventure or play on the playground in front of Toucan’s all day; either way, I’m sure you’ll please them.

Living in “Forgotten Coast” has been an adventure for my family and I and I’m sure it can be for your’s also. Contact Bluewater Realty when you’re ready to go from City Slicker to Beach Bum!

Luxurious Home Overlooking St. Joseph Bay

View Featured Property
As I turn into the circle drive of 2501 Constitution Drive in Port St. Joe I am enamored by the beauty and southern charm this home displays as it sprawls across the entire front of a city block. I make my way up the brick stair case and turn back to catch a glimpse of the sweeping views of St. Joseph Bay amongst the large, grassy front yard with a glimpse of Cape San Blas on the horizon. Right in that moment, I could picture myself sitting in the white rocker watching my son play on the front lawn while my husband fished in the bay.

I pushed open the over sized double front doors and there stood a floating spiral staircase topped by a chandelier and my breath was taken away. As I stood beside the Baby Grand Piano in the music room I imagined Scarlett O’Hara running down the stair case after Rhett Butler. The custom wood crown molding that covered the entire 1st floor of the home was magnificent. I could not believe that I had walked into this home that is the absolute epitome of the traditional southern home.

Walking pass the large dining table into the living I was instantly brought back to the modern day as I heard music come out of the built in surround sound system. The living room also consisted of a built in entertainment system, gas burning fireplace, and high end custom curtains. There are 4 sets of double doors that have hidden sliding screen enclosures that allow you to open this home to the warm breeze of St. Joseph’s Bay without all those pesky bugs.

With an open floor plan I made my way to the kitchen where I found granite countertops, high end appliances including a down draft gas stove range. The kitchen also provides a large walk-in pantry as well as a butler’s pantry for those who enjoy entertaining.

Outside the kitchen is a door that any son-in-law would love; a door that led to the mother-in-law suite. The mother-in-law suite located over the 3 car garage includes a wet bar as well as a desk and seating area. With a walk-in closet and a private balcony overlooking the pool; the son-in-law may never get rid of her.

Located underneath the mother-in-law suite is the spacious 3 car garage with access to the heated pool. Outside the garage entrance to the pool is a ½ bath to keep those little wet feet from running inside all day long. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off before entering or after exiting the pool.

I climbed the wooden staircase onto the balcony that is connect to the living room and master bedroom and entered the master through the French doors. To my immediate right I found a sitting room with a granite fireplace closed off with a set of pocket doors. Continuing through the room I entered the spacious Master Bath that consisted of an open, tile shower with 2 shower heads and a Jacuzzi. I also noticed that this bathroom had every woman’s dream; 2 separate vanities and sinks.

After all this time I finally found myself climbing that beautiful staircase to the 2nd floor. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths and a seating area, the 2nd floor is just the right size for a growing family or a retired couple who want to enjoy the “good life”.

As I exited the home and thought back on everything I just saw I was truly surprised. This 3 bedroom, 4 full bath, and 3 half bath home was more than I ever expected. I had driven by it day after day and never knew it would put me into this majestical trance.
