St. Joseph Bay Scallop Festival
Held underneath canopying trees at Shipyard Cove Park in Port St. Joe, the 2008 Scallop Festival provided fun for all. The 2 day event had live music, pony rides, jumpers, a petting zoo, arts & crafts, and of course, scallops! With many people enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival, many more were enjoying the taste.
Scallops are a staple in Port St. Joe between July and September. During these months you will find visitors from across the country scurrying to Port St. Joe and Cape San Blas to get a bit of these delicacies for themselves. Be sure to stop by Bluewater Outriggers to get all your snorkel equipment and scalloping gear.
The locals of Florida's Forgotten Coast can be found day after day bobbing in and out of St. Joseph Bay during scallop season. With such a short time frame to enjoy the delicious meat of these succulent creatures, Scalloping is definitely worth the adventure; and no wonder why so many decide to relocate to the beaches of Cape San Blas, Mexico Beach, and Port St. Joe.
The Port St. Joe Scallop Festival is just one more reason why being able to enjoy each day on the Forgotten Coast is just like enjoying each day in paradise.
